WEANING TIME!!

We have successfully made it through the weaning process this year. The babies all look very good and are coming into their own individually. Congrats to Janna Beam on her purchase of a super nice three year old filly. We look forward to watching Janna on a Nick baby. Teressa Batey on her purchase of This Nicks For You. Teressa has found early success aboard this nice colt. Tammi Fillingham has a georgous gelding that is coming on quickly in central Texas, look for him he is fun to watch.  Dena Kirkpatrick has my three year old Nickitty Split, Splitter is getting ready for the juvenile at Oklahoma City, in the meantime he has been doing very well at the exhibitions exhibiting the classic Dr Nick Bar style. Marla Arute, a successful Oklahoma breeder has a weanling filly for sale out of a Tiger Leo and Rebel cause mare. This particular cross has been a winning combination for Marla in the past with noted trainers aboard. This filly is very flashy and kind. You can contact Marla at 580-788-2137. I have a few weanlings available for purchase out of OWN daughters of: Okie Dokie Dale, Mr Eye Opener, Special Effort, Invisable Injun, and Man In The Money.

GREAT HORSES FOR SALE!!

I am happy to report my first foal arrived the day after I posted last blog...Addie as we named her arrived Feb 5, we were excited simply because she arrived healthy but we were super excited because she is a palomino/ dun with a bald face. The chrome is a bonus with AGANG, you know you are most likely going to get it, but what color and how much white is always fun! We have many more babies to come so we are constantly on mare duty.....I HAVE A FEW GREAT HORSES FOR SALE: I am not sure why all at one because usually these kind are very rare to find; however, right now I have a super nice selction of rodeo/open horses consigned to sale.

Cadillac: 11years old gelding Brown bald face. Super nice barrel horse. He is doing it today with ease and running with one horse in particular who is in the top five of the WNFR 2010 standings. You can also rope on him  and he is nice pole horse. very, very broke. Very flashy. Great to be around, suitable for any age from youth rodeo to prorodeo which is hard to find. Has not been used up... Call for price.

Mac: Wow what a solid sorrel flashy gelding. Mac is the epitomy of have fun, win, and look good doing it. He is 14 yrs. old Mac is a big horse standing over 16 hands but proportioned very nicely.Has  been taken great care of. Mac is honest as the day is long.Run him in a hackamore. BIG outdoor pens he is not going to go by a barrel. He has placed at many prorodeos the past year and has won a World Barrel Racing Productions warm up race. He is running at the rodeos right now. In shape and ready to go on. Mac would be great for anyone from younger girl to ladies who want to go to rodeos.... Call for Price, video, etc

Bugs: 12 year old sorrel gelding. Built very well. Has a big pretty hind leg on him and a kind eye. Bugs had a nice futurity year winning over 25,000 and since then his prorodeo/open earnings are approximated to be close to 60,000. This horse is very broke to ride, easy going attitude and personality. He is very tough indoors, to run him in big big arenas he needs to be handled a little more. Bred very very well as he is out of an own daughter of Bugs Alive In 75 and an own son of Hot Colours. Bugs is ready to enter up on. Call for price, videos, records, etc

Boon: 7yr old sorrel mare very flashy, runs in an o ring. Broke, easy to be around. Naturally bendy mare. Her owners have had her since a yearling and they have put a  great ranching/cattle foundation on her. Currently placing in bottom of 1d and winning 2d. Boon was just started on the barrels as a five year old...so she is just now hitting her trained comfort zone.I will begin seasoning her in March to the amatuer rodeos until sold. Priced at $15,000 and that price is subject to change.

I also have a fine selection of broodmares in foal to AGANG for sale as well. If you are interested in any of the above horses please call m to ensure immediate response. 361-645-4705 cell

2010 FEES AND INCENTIVES

AGANG breeding fee for the 2010 season will remain at $1,500. AGANG stands at the Texas Stud under the supervision of Dr. Leland Prowse. The Texas Stud sets their prices for shipping fees and mare care, these two fees are out of my control and are not included in the fees I pay to stand the stud; however, I do feel the shipping charge is a little higher than some stallions. With this being said we are working together to try to have the shipping fee lowered for the 2010 breeding season and I feel very confident that we will get this accomplished!! AGANG has his own incentive program. All foals are eligible. The cash payouts are huge and do not stop at futurities...more info coming soon. I want to again thank JB quarter horses for allowing us to consign I DREAM OF NICK (2009 sorrel filly) to the first annual JB quarter horses sale Nov 21, 2009 at Waco, Texas. Please visit their website at www.jbquarterhorses.com to view lot 12 I Dream Of Nick aka Tubby. Tubby is the nicest baby out of AGANG that I have seen..... She screams NFR connections top and bottom with being out of an own daughter of Frenchman's Guy! If you bred a mare in 2009 or purchased a foal please be looking in the mail for our annual breeders and buyers apppreciation gift within the next month!

Australia Bound

It has been an exciting year for As Good As Nick Gets. Jane and Norm Stagg who live in Australia purchased "Nicks Masserati." This is a landmark to the breeding program. Mazi as we call her is a great 2009 filly who will have a great experience going down under.... I myself only have one colt out of Nick and Mazi was the fiily I was going to keep since I havent gotten to keep one the last two foaling seasons as they have all been sold; however, we are thrilled about her going to live and be trained by the Staggs! We are in the works of having shipped semen offered in Australia next year. So looking forward to that!Goodluck and congrats to them!!! We were gratefully invited to participate in the first annual JB Quarter Horse Sale held in Waco, Texas this November. We chose to offer in the sale , I DREAM OF NICK: 2009 sorrel filly by AGANG and own daughter of Frenchman's Guy and Blushing Bug dam. I DREAM OF NICK aka Tubby is the nicest baby we have raised through our program. She is very gentle, loads, clips, trims. Tubby is a great filly. Check out www.horseauctions.com to see her. The picture of her is terrible but with very short notice it was all we had at the time... Tubby will be lot #12 in the sale. We will also have the AGANG booth at the Bobby Barter Barrelnanza Finals also held in Waco, Texas in November. Dr. leland Prowse who stands Nick at his breeding farm will be in the booth everyday. Kelsey Jones of Bloomington, Texas purchased Alice, an outstanding  AGANG 3 year old filly from my dear friend Terra Bynum. Terra trained Alice and she has turned out to be such a neat filly. I was hoping Alice would get to go to OKC to the juvenile this year;however, Kelsey has decided to make their debut at the four year old futurities. I am sure it will be a great match... Kelsey is a very good hand for being young and Alice has a ton of potential so this pair will be very fun to watch in the future! Goodluck to Kelsey and Alice! Congrats to my best friend Lindsay who has ridden Nick's full brother DJ Nick Bar lately to some good paychecks at Puyallup Million dollar Tour finale and the Canadian Tour Finals. Coming soon.... we have come up with our own AGANG incentive program so please stay tuned for that....

CHEERS....

Foaling season is officially in the books for 2009! We are very pleased as this year produced some of the nicest offspring so far! I have sold ever Nick baby I have ever bred or owned ;however, this year I am going to be selfish and keep one! My friend Lindsay Sears bred "Martha's" mother Babys Blue Jeans to Nick last year and last month had a stunning stud colt! I am so excited about Lindsay's future with the cross she won the world on! My Mom, Cindy Gayle found success at the Old Fort Days Futurity in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Dena Kirkpatrick aboard JB One Famous Dude. Dash as he is called ended up winning fourth when it was all said and done. Judy Bloomquist did a fine job breeding this nice colt! Bailey Bryson of Dalhart, Texas recently purchased This Nicks For You, a three year old gelding out of Nick and own daughter of On A High. Bailey and Nifty are off to a great start! Look for them at the 2010 futurities. Teri George purchased half interest in the two year old colt we call Nickitty Split. Splitter made his first appearance at Dena's clinic in Edna and acted like an old pro! Teri alreaay has him walking and trotting the pattern! This duo will be fun to watch! Until nest time.......

NEWS, NEWS, AND MORE NEWS!

Congratulations to Lindsay Sears and the ever thrilling Sugar Moon Express "Martha" for winning the 2008 Gold Buckle. What an awesome duo these two are! After the 10th round Lindsay's family had a dinner for her which was wonderful and very full of emotions. We were getting teased for hugging each other one minute, crying together the next, and then laughing....It was one of the most gratifying times ever to see one of my best friends accomplish what she and Martha did!On to the booth... my expectations were far surpassed. The RFD Channel will come to the house after the first of the year to film commercials and do a segment on Nick! I donated a breeding to the Prorodeo League of Women/Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund in which they have a luncheon, style show, and live auction in Vegas during the rodeo. That breeding went for $3,250.00 to Michael and Paula Gaughn who own the South Point Hotel and Casino. They will breed one of their great mares in hopes of getting their granddaughter a nice barrel horse. Several magazines have approached us to do a few articles on Nick, so I will update you on which ones and when they will come out. Terra Bynum acquired another Nick baby during the WNFR as well as WNFR bull dogger Curtis Cassidy. These two babies should be going to west Texas and Canada after the new year. Also congratulations to Robbie Bacon  from King City, California on her purchase of As Good As Gone(name pending), a 2008 bay colt out of Nick and an Dash For Cash/Go Man Go mare. I am sad to see this colt go as he was the one I was going to keep and the only colt I had left until the mamas start foaling; however, he will have a great opportunity to succeed with the Bacon's. The saddle drawing was a huge success! Thank you to all the mare owners who prebooked to win one of these awesome saddles! The lucky winners are:

Dr. Rick Erwin of Belleview, Florida

Leeann Wolfe of Flora Vista, New Mexico

Shannon Leuguerria od Donaldo Alberta, Canada

Cheyenne Kelly of Hope, Texas

The Joe Jones Family of Texas

I would like to thank everyone who had a hand in helping with the booth this year including my Mom Cindy Gayle, Dr. Prowse and wife Teresa, Ashley Looney,Kayla Mcginley, Richard Johnson, and Crystal Young with Rejuv Gelz. Lindsay has come out with her own saddle line through Shiloh Saddlery, these saddles are great as I have one in my barn! Check those out soon. We are still taking bookings to Nick so please call with any questions. As Good As Nick gets and all of us would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hapoy Holidays!

Headed To Las Vegas!
The booth is on it's way to Las Vegas. Nick's booth will be located at The Sands Expo and convention center booth number 1670. Dr. Prowse, my self, and my Mom Cindy Gayle will be available to visit or answer any questions. Lindsay Sears will also be appearing to sign autographs. The saddles are awesome!!! If you have bred to Nick since I have owned him or purchase a 2009 breeding before or on December 14, 2008 you will be entered in a chance to win one of saddles! At the other "big" barrel race that is going on at the same time as the WNFR is the World Championship Barrel Futurity at Oklahoma City and I would like to wish my Mom, Cindy Gayle and Dena Kirkpatrick the best of luck as they have two colts in the juvenile and one in the $100,000 superstakes that we all own together so it's neat to finally see these two babies  being able to compete! I also want to wish luck upon Lindsay, how fun it will be to watch her and Martha in Las Vegas! Have you seen how the TOP 15 barrel racers in the world horses are bred? Their are two Dr Nick Bars, Nick's full brother DJ Nick Bar being one of them.Alot of them going back to Three Bars, Triple Chick, Chicado V, Leo, Flit Bar, etc, etc, Check out Nick's pedigree to see all the names listed above!Happy Holidays to all and hopefully we will see you at the booth! There will be lots of Nick goodies!
